The project began last year in 2009 and is planned to end in 2013. Its vision is to develop potentials for creating intergenerational solidarity and to find joint interests and practise in different youth organizations in the field of intergenerational cooperation. The knowledge that we will gather through several micro projects and through the work of a special study group will be gather, verified and accessible to anyone in different publications and on a project web page. In terms of “learning environment” all this knowledge will be useful and recognizable as an additional value to the social development at local, national and European level.
10 mostly youth organizations and four other partners, such as secondary schools and similar, are supposed to be qualified for training individuals to be able to create culture of tolerance, respect and dialog between generations. One of the goals of the project is also to connect youth organizations in the field of intergenerational cooperation and to include experts with good references.
In the name of this project we are also hoping to find and gather as many good practises as possible in youth organizations around the country. According to those good practises we are planning to develop material and directions that will help to improve the intergenerational communication and cooperation inside and outside our organizations.
Some of this, so called “micro projects” (good practises) are already taking place and there has also been few meeting of a study group, that will provide professional statements, publications and directions for work. For example, ZSKSS has carry out three training camps called “young for the younger” and now we are preparing visits of scout groups (from 17 to 25 years) in old people’s homes and in homes for old-age pensioners in different towns around Slovenia. They are also trying to improve our meetings with the parents of our young scout members. SAK - Social academy has carried out the work-shop where they gathered opinions about important human values from different generations.
In the year 2011 they are going to realize the same “micro projects” (visits of the old people and meeting with parents) but with more knowledge after specialised trainings in the field of intergenerational communication abilities.
